il repertorio Genesis è pieno di opere in grado di onorare più che degnamente questo Oscar,
ma talmente pieno che dovendone scegliere solo 3 occorre per forza operare esclusioni dolorose...

la mia scelta:
- THE MUSICAL BOX
- CAN UTILITY & THE COAST LINERS
- DANCING WITH THE MOONLIT KNIGHT

non ho messo nella mia scelta colei che dovrebbe a ragione essere ritenuta la più rappresentativa,
la suite del lato 2 di FOXTROT, perchè quelle 3 a mio parere incarnano a meraviglia "lo spirito" .

The Musical box è una miniopera, con una storia romantica a farle da conduttore, con una cadenza musicale
unica per costruzione, dal tenue al glorioso, passando per momenti di quiete dolcissimi. Un capolavoro al
di fuori del tempo e dei Genesis stessi. Una "cena" condensata, perfetta dall'inizio alla fine.[8:-x]

Can Utility dispiega perfettamente in poco più di 6 minuti cosa dovrebbe essere (e lo fà oltre ad esserlo)
un brano rigorosamente prog - doc del tempo: arpeggi meravigliosamente medioevaleggianti, tonalità del
tutto particolari, uso di 12 corde a profusione oltre che di mellotron ed organo. Non neccessariamente un
brano per essere prog deve essere lungo più di 12 minuti...

DANCING rappresenta la raffinatezza musicale unita a tecnica esecutiva fatte canzone. Un traguardo incredibile.
Qui c'è veramente tutto, organi e mellotron a creare simil cori così incredibilmente "del tempo dei cavalieri",
parti di chitarra e batteria a rincorrersi, atmosfere sognanti fuori dal tempo, una voce unica a dominare il
tutto. Brano Magistrale. Con quella coda che nessun altro brano al mondo di ogni epoca possiede.[8:-x]

In effetti,secondo me,e' una suite musicale molto particolare, dove c'e' l'intermezzo musicale col flauto che e' troppo bello! Cioe',e' la storia raccontata e suonata immensamente,leggiadra e sognante,come tutte le storie di Nursery Cryme. Un gioiello in mezzo a mostri sacri del progressive!
