...PETER GABRIEL.....always been a fan of Pete's music. In Genesis we were very close. Tony was actually his best friend at school, but we bonded due to our mutual love of Soul music and both being drummers. In 1979/80 (I think) I volunteered my services to him when he couldn't afford his mainly American band all the time to rehearse and write. I lived at Ashcombe House for 2 or 3 months while he wrote what was to become his 3rd CD. John Giblin was on bass, Joe Partridge was on guitar, and we had a keyboard player called Geoff...... we played most days and routined songs... Biko, Wallflower, No Self Control.... quite a few from his soon to be made CD. We also learned some of his older songs, and he and I duetted some nights on the Lamb as a finale. At Crystal Palace I stood in the wings in case Jerry Morotta fell over with food poisoning !!! It went like this.... I had received a call Saturday morning, the day of the show, from Gail Colson, his manager at the time. She asked me if I could come and play as Jerry was very sick and unable to. I got out all my PG discs and brushed up on all the songs. Drove to Crystal Palace only to find a much improved Jerry getting dressed for the gig !!! As I was there and there was still a chance he would keel over at any time, I set my drums up behind his on stage and played along in case he fell over !!! He didn't, and it must've looked very strange to people who saw me at the back of the stage, hiding yet playing along...... and people ask if we like each other !!! I love Pete and would play with him in a second if he asked..
Non ho mai sentito dire la stessa cosa da parte di Peter[J-,]
