Oggi Geoff scrive:

I have already transferred to hard drive about 25% of the cassettes.
But that is all, at this moment.
Some don't play all the way through. Mostly the very thin tapes like
BASF 120 the Scotch 120 are better.
I've played though the screeching and recorded after if possible.
I will try putting the tapes in new cases to see if they play better.
These tapes will not be remixed as they are only stereo.
Most were recorded with a pair of microphones at the mix position.
So any extraneous talking laughing swearing is part of it and cannot
be removed.
No editing (or very little) they will be as the cassette. Just like
the Encore series.
They will be dehissed and denoised maybe a bit of EQ and compression.
At the moment I am only working on Cassettes, I believe there is a
list of what we have on the site somewhere.
What would be good is a poll of what shows are wanted and I'll do
them first. Subject to (the powers that be) approval.
As with the Encore series,The band will probably get Nick to listen
to the first few shows make some comments then let me get on with them.

"Your Own Special Way" con gli archi suonati da musicisti locali (australiani) fu pubblicata su un singolo ai tempi di "WCD". Al momento non ricordo quale ma ha visto la luce in modo ufficiale (il CD Single ce l'ho a casa...).... Scusate l'OT...

Tra l'altro le cassette C120 le usavano solo loro... Avevano il nastro talmente sottile che si rompeva anche se solo lo guardavi un po' più intensamente... Siamo veramente messi male...
Ma la vera chicca è quella dei microfoni 'audience' e non un registratore attaccato alle uscite di linea del mixer... Gesù! [V][V][V]

Credo di non aver capito bene questa storia delle cassete, cioè???

Le cassette C120 della durata complessiva di 2 ore (una per facciata) erano le peggiori in commercio. Il nastro era talmente sottile che spesso si spezzava e rimaneva incastrato nella meccanica del registratore. Altri gruppi per registrare in modo un po' più professionale utilizzavano perlomeno dei registratori a bobina Revox e non avevano problemi per la durata del supporto. Oltretutto il Revox registrava a velocità superiore rispetto ad altri registratori con conseguente maggiore qualità. Per i microfoni 'audience'... il significato è una registrazione peggiore, cioè il suono di sala (con rumori, brusio, commenti e casini vari che avvenivano nei dintorni dei microfoni..) e non un suono diretto da mixer, pulito e contenente solo quello che realmante i Genesis suonavano...

all' epoca le c120 erano praticamente scarti di scaffale [xx(]e proprio in quanto esageratamente lunghi ed estremamente sottili, erano sempre pronti a spezzarsi con grande facilità....avranno comprato uno stock per risparmiare....[:D]e le hanno usate...[:0]

Questa dei SB è indubbiamente una grande idea[:)]
Restano da sciogliere alcuni dubbi però...
Il primo è quello di capire in quale forma usciranno,
se verrano venduti direttamente via download senza alcun artwork,
o se verrano gestiti dalla stessa società che ha gestito i SB
del TIOA Tour,cioè TheMusic.com,che in tal caso realizzerebbe
artwork per venderli in maniera separata o raggruppati in
cofanetti con tanto di foto allegate.

Il secondo e quasi insormontabile problema è per i Genesis
ottenere l'approvazione da parte di PG per i primi e naturalmente
più interessanti SB.

E qui amici la vedo veramente dura....

Erano certamente sottili e fragili ma non proprio uno scarto di scaffale, in quegli anni si vendevano regolarmente. Loro utilizzavano quelle (in genere BASF, che sembravano ottime ma che invece tendevano a perdere ossido prima del tempo) perchè, soprattutto per il Lamb tour (che è il primo ad essere registrato regolarmente tranne qualche sporadica eccezione)
erano più pratiche: bastava cambiare lato una volta sola, al prezzo però di qualche taglio qua e là, compito affidato ai tizi del mixer che avevano anche altre cose a cui pensare. Esistono poi due diverse categorie di incisioni "ufficiali" presenti alla Farm: quelle da mixer puro, cioè con l'impianto attaccato direttamente alla consolle (tipo Liverpool per intenderci, con assenza di pubblico) e di qualità eccellente, oppure con i microfoni messi sul palco o nei pressi e i jack collegati al registratore. In questo caso la qualità e ovviamente inferiore e si sente, in parte, il pubblico. Purtroppo è vero che alcuni nastri sono irrimediabilmente rovinati ma ce ne sono altri che dovrebbero essere intatti, speriamo bene.

Confermo il difetto delle cassette c 120,e il nastro sottile,dovuto
alla lunghezza in minuti e quindi,metri del nastro.
Ne ho,ancora e solo,una ma non e' nulla dei Genesis,solo stupidaggini che registravo all'eta' di 13-14 anni.......[I8)]

Comprai solo due Basf 120,poi vista la pessima qualità non ne comprai più!
Comunque al di là di questo,io voglio assolutamente i soundboard da mixer per iniziare,e poi questo ancora più interessante.. LE PROVE IN STUDIO!
Di tutti gli album possibili.....da musicista e fan l'atto della creazione è una cosa magnifica...me li comprerei in blocco![:p][:p][:p]

I soundboards tapes saranno accessibili dal sito ufficiale x gli isrcitti soltantoi e siccome saranno releases ufficiali non saranno torrentabili su movement.
Più avanti agli aventi diritto verà chiesto di votare x scegliere i soundboards I + richiesti saranno messi a loro disposizione forse pagando un extra - oltre alla annuale sottoscrizione - per ogni scarica....that's all (for the moment)[;)]

Anch'io che ho la passione della musica da sempre ma non sono certo uno che lavora nell'ambiente ho sempre saputo che le cassette da 120 minuti erano una fregatura e ne sono sempre stato alla larga.....

....a volte i Genesis si sono comportati in modo davvero assurdo, vedi questo episodio o quello di non filmare neanche una data del The lamb tour....strano, molto strano!!!![:-I][:-I][:-I]
