Vi propongo un nuovo giochino.
Create il Long playing ideale dei Genesis (lato A e lato B), indicando una vostra originale track list scelta tra tutte le composizioni dei nostri beneamati. L'unico limite è nel minutaggio (massimo 50 minuti). Per i più fantasiosi è possibile anche inventare il titolo del LP ideale, nonchè segnalare la formazione preferita.

uffa high... per colpa tua mi tocca toglierne 3-4 che ci stavano proprio bene...[!:-!]

comunque... sono d'accordo sul fatto che The lamb non si tocca, e nemmeno però si posson mettere The musical box e Supper's ready: sono troppo "compiute", sono album a sè secondo me, quindi le escludo a priori.

Ci provo, anche se la scelta che farò potrà essere smentita in qualsiasi momento dal sottoscritto.
Avrei creato un DVD con Traspass (da cui avrei escluso Visions of angels), Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound (da cui avrei tolto More fool me), The Lamb (non si può sezionare !!!!), A trick of the tail, Wind And Wuthering (senza Your One Special Way),
And Then There were three (senza Snowbound, Ballad of Big) Duke (senza Misunderstanding, Please dont'ask e Man of our Times).

No scherzo...visto che sarebbe un album di reunion, The return of Giant Genesis.

Anche questa in cronico ritardo, ma mi piace tanto[:D];
allora, per il mio modo di vedere, occorre mantenere una certa coerenza storico-stilistica del modo di progredire della band (troverei risibile[:-D] ed inconcludente abbinare nello stesso album pezzi indiscutibilmente fantastici come THE KNIFE e DUKE'S TRAVELS/DUKE'S END, lontani tra loro anni luce).
Seguendo questa prassi, ci sarebbero 2 albums assolutamente MONUMENTALI per tecnica, composizione ed immaginazione:

NURSERY C...(hiamatelo come Vi pare[:-D]):
lato A: THE MUSICAL BOX - FOR ABSENT FRIENDS - THE RETURN OF THE GIANT HOGWEED
lato B: HORIZONS - SUPPER'S READY

commenti - potrebbe sembrare unico punto debole ABSENT (secondo me è un pezzo stupendo, soprattutto per il testo), ma sia per ragioni di spazio e soprattutto come divisorio a 2 pezzi PAZZESCHI, serve benissimo allo scopo (quello di "riprendersi" dopo MUSICAL prima di intraprendere HOGWEED, altrimenti si rischia il coma da sballo di benessere[;)][:p][:D]).

SELLING ENGLAND BY THE POUND
qui la taglio corta (anche perche è molto semplice):
TUTTO L'ALBUM COSI COM'È,
via MORE FOOL ME per fare spazio ad ENTANGLED sempre cantata da PHIL!
sempre spazio permettendo, ma la tecnica moderna fà miracoli...[;)]

commenti - questo sarebbe un album assolutamente perfetto, senza debolezze.

Se la storia avesse visto 2 opere del genere, credo che avvrebbero ECLISSATO (quasi) TUTTA LA CONCORRENZA DEL TEMPO (e non solo Prog...),
assurgendo oggi ad oggetti di culto e reliquia ancor più di quanto non lo siano comunque diventate le opere originali!

Scusate la "lungaggine" ed il ritardo, Siete autorizzati a distruggere i miei concetti come meglio desiderate (dai, che così ribatto ed oggi forse divento "FOXTROTTER"[:p][:p][:p] - per la serie più mi chiamano, più mi ricaricano, YUK, YUK, YUK!)[:-D][:D][:p][8D][:)]

...anche se "One for the vine" per sound è un pò fuori contesto rispetto al sound storico che accomuna maggiormente gli altri brani, ma può andare; piuttosto, mettendomi nei panni di un ipotetico produttore[:D], io farei la scaletta del LongPlaying così:
