Nursery Cryme,  the awesome and disquieting painting
conceived by  Paul Whitehead's  tremendous  imaginative
power in 1971,   inspired by Genesis' music,   executed
with oil on canvas...                                  
   Has Nursery Cryme always been your  favorite record?
Have you played "The Musical Box" until its groove  was
totally  worn  out?   Have you ever dreamed  of  having
that picture  as a  wallpaper on your computer desktop?
So did I;  hence, I decided to create it myself...

concepito  nel 1971  dalla potenza immaginativa di Paul
Whitehead,    ispirato   dalla   musica   dei  Genesis,
dipinto ad olio su tela...                             
   Nursery  Cryme  e'  sempre  stato  il  vostro  disco
preferito?   Avete ascoltato  "The Musical Box"  fino a
consumarne completamente il solco? Avete mai sognato di
poter avere  quel quadro  come sfondo  sul desktop  del
vostro computer?   Anch'io, percui ho deciso di farmelo
da solo...                                             

...with  a  lot  of  patience!   I used  an A4 standard
scanner;   thus,  I  had  to take multiple scans of the
image and paste the whole thing together. Then, I began
a long process of retouching and resampling.   You  can
read some details in this legenda:

A4 standard,   percui ho dovuto prendere piu' scansioni
dell'immagine ed incollare il tutto assieme.   Poi,  e'
stato  necessario   un   lungo  lavoro   di  ritocco  e
ri-campionamento.   Potete  leggere  qualche  dettaglio
qui sotto:                                             

   I had  decided  to start  from the german reprint of
the album from the 80's - the most graphically accurate
and detailed.  Unlike other  Paul Whitehead's  artworks
(e.g. "Trespass", which belongs to Peter Gabriel),  the
original  painting  of  Nursery  Cryme  was lost.   The
reproductions  that  can  be  seen  in  Mr. Whitehead's
website (www.paulwhitehead.com) are clearly a scan of a
record sleeve - not unlike the one presented here.   On
the contrary, the oil on canvas which has recently been
exhibited in Milan is a contemporary copy, not strictly
resembling  the original  despite being painted  by the
artist himself.

gruesome and unusual painting,   please read this short

   Ho deciso  di partire  dalla ristampa tedesca  degli
anni '80  dell'album  -  la piu' accurata e dettagliata
dal  punto di vista  grafico.   Contrariamente ad altri
quadri  di  Paul Witehead  (ad es. "Trespass",  che  e'
di proprieta' di Peter Gabriel),   il dipinto originale
di Nursery Cryme e' andato perduto. Le riproduzioni che
si  possono  vedere  nel  sito  internet  del sig. Paul
Whitehead   (www.paulwhitehead.com)   sono   in   tutta
evidenza la  scansione della copertina  di  un  disco -
sostanzialemte non diversa da questa.  Invece,  la tela
che e' stata recentemente esposta a Milano e' una copia
contemporanea, non particolarmente simile all'originale
sebbene  sia  stata  dipinta  dall'autore stesso.

dipinto cosi' sanguinario ed insolito,   potete leggere

INSTRUCTIONS:  click  on  the  image  and  choose
"open  from  current  position"   when  prompted.
WinZip will be  automatically launched.   Extract
the  .bmp  file  into your  "c:\windows"  folder.
Recall the image from your screen options  in the
control panel.                                   

ISTRUZIONI: fate click sull'immagine, e scegliete
"apri  dal  percorso corrente"  quando  vi  sara'
richiesto.   WinZip  verra' lanciato  automatica-
mente.   Estraete  il  file .bmp  nella directory
"c:\windows".   Richiamate l'immagine come sfondo
del desktop dalla finestra  di  dialogo "schermo"
del pannello di controllo.
